What do robots, starfish and toasters think about? As time goes by, objects and all the artefacts serving our daily life become more and more intuitive. Self-driving cars communicating with each other to avoid accidents, alarm clocks able to wake us up when we feel less sleepy... What will they think? How will they treat us? And how do we treat other kinds of intelligence?
With “Many Intelligences”, award-winning product designer and ex-Googler Matteo Loglio takes readers on a ride into the world of Intelligence and AI. Joining forces with impeccably curated Edizioni Corraini - the go-to Italian publishing house for designers, the author lets us peek into the future and imagine a world where cars and toasters will be as clever as we are, or more.
The children’s book looks at Intelligence, one of the many forces in the Universe, and reassesses the focus – we, as human beings, are definitely not the only smart ones on the planet. Diving deep into the many forms of intellect (from octopuses to forests) and companionships that helped us throughout history, Loglio gets to the most recent declination of it, the one that humans are morphing in labs – the so-far so-called “Artificial Intelligence”. Many Intelligences teaches the concept of AI and simplifies the subject of singularity, for children and adults too.
“I wanted to write a book which discusses profound ideas yet is simple to understand, especially for children, who will be the ones sharing this world with intelligent objects.” - Matteo Loglio

The Artificial Intelligence debate is part of our everyday lives, yet not many experts have simplified the topic enough for children to understand, and be able to discuss. They are, after all, the ones who will be living the magnitude effect in a future that is not too far-off. Previously co-founder of ed-tech company Primo Toys, Loglio is looking to change this narrative. The book shows a positive glimpse into a distant future, a less-gloomy alternative where artificial companions will work together with humans, speak a different language, and even compose new music and art.
“Working daily with AI and emerging technologies, I realised how little people outside of our design bubble know about the possible futures ahead of us.” - Matteo Loglio
Through a consistent storyline and finest illustrations, the script draws from the author’s vast experience in education and visual communication. Matteo is a designer, educator and entrepreneur who creates future products and interactions. His peculiar profile and natural abilities to make complex subjects accessible through simple products and experiences, came in as the perfect recipe.
“Many visions of AI and automation are quite gloomy and dark, while I wanted to depict a positive scenario for our future together.” - Matteo Loglio
Matteo Loglio works with the likes of Google, IKEA, MoMA in New York, and the V&A Museum in London, and has now officially entered Edizioni Corraini’s authors portfolio - an extensive ensemble of the most renowned designers of all times, including historical figures Bruno Munari and Enzo Mari among many others.

Matteo Loglio (matlo.me) is a product designer working across creative applications of artificial intelligence and playful experiments with technology. Currently he is a founder and director at oio (oio.studio) - a group of humans and machines pushing the limits of design and technology. Previously he worked at Google and Arduino, and founded ed-tech company Primo Toys. Matteo’s work is featured in TIME Magazine, The New York Times, Le Monde, The Guardian, Domus, Wired among many others, and his projects exhibited in places such as MoMA in New York, V&A in London, or Triennale Museum in Milan.
Corraini Edizioni is a publishing house and an art gallery, as well as a space for experimentation and research: a “publishing workshop” open to artists, illustrators and designers, from both Italy and abroad, to create books and art and design projects. Corraini Edizioni is made out of curiosity and discovery, levity and fun. An unpredictable and uninterrupted process that, in our case, has lasted for over 40 years. 40 years of encounters, bandying between art and books, in search of new languages, contaminations, free experimentation. Corraini Edizioni's publishing work ranges between design, art and illustration, often blurring the boundaries between the different disciplines.
